Unrelated to my own family research but very much related to the place I have lived for the past 20 years, is my collection of Early Percy Township Records. These include the following transcriptions:
- Early Settlement Reports
- Early Census Reports
- Previously Published Text
- Personal Memoirs
- Oral History

Could you please tell me how the township originally got its name, and its connection to northumberland county and alnwick in England? Thanks very much.

Hi Marguerite;
I’m not exactly sure what the original reasoning was behind choosing the name however it would seem to relate to Earl Percy, Duke of Northumberland.

Like much of Southern Ontario, English names predominate.
Sorry I can’t be more help. I will try to find a better answer for you and post it here when I do. Anybody else know?
