1917 Family Re-union St. Stephen N.B.

Thanks to Renae Grubb for forwarding this picture of Betty and Lois Deakin with their cousin Bill (W.B.) Charlton. The photo was apparently taken at St. Stephen, New Brunswick in 1917. The document was found amongst Lois Scott’s genealogical papers.

  1. This photo which includes my father, Bill, is very good to see as there are not many of him as a child. Thanks for sharing this.

    John

It has been a long time since I have seen you.

I just wanted to let you know that I have been into your site a few times and I should say I am quite impressed. Renae Elder (our cousin from the Good family) has really done a lot of work to preserve the materials which my mother had developed from her research.

My mother died on May 2nd, 1992 and left my father, Cecil and brother Peter in the family home in Saint John, New Brunswick. Peter had developed kidney disease in 1984 and lived with my parents as his disease progressed. Peter continued to live in that house until his death on February 4th, 2001. My father, Cecil was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 1996 at which time a decision was made to institutionalize him. As a twist of fate, Peter died prior to my father. My brother, Brian and sister, Susan and I decided to sell the old house upon Peter’s death. The material which my mother had amassed was sent to Renae Elder moreso to protect the research as no one other than Renae appeared interested in the Good family research and of course, it allowed Renae to continue her own research into this family. I should indicate that my father passed away on February 29th, 2004.

In any event, I was really taken with the picture of your father and my mother from 1917 (as kids). This is what I sort of envisaged would ultimately happen with the Good family research so that all family members might be able to share in this extensive research material. My mother would have been very impressed with the technology.

As requested by Renae, I intend to write to your site again and provide some memories so that they are preserved at this site.

John, thanks for being a caretaker for many families.

    Steve Scott
    Bedford, Nova Scotia.
