The Peer Family Elders

Peer Family Elders 1930

Left to right – Florence Mabel (Peer), Lucy Richards Maggie Rowsome (Peer), George Rowsome, Lillian Spicer (Peer), Reuben Peer Jr., Hannah Brown and Kitty Peer.

Photo taken in 1930 at the Peer Family Reunion

Dec 27th, 2007 – note from Julie Hinton: Miranda and I visited my cousin Betty in Nov. and we both agreed that grandma and grandpa Hinton are not in the Peer Family Elder pic or the Peer Family Reunion pic.

August 10th, 2010 – Joy MacGregor pointed out that the person second from left is not Lucy Richards but rather Margaret Rowsome. Thanks Joy.

Chuck Bigford identified Hanna Brown and noted that Clara Hinton and Lucy Richards were the two Peer sisiters not present for this photo.

    In this picture: It’s (my great great grandfather) Reuben Peer Jr. …3rd from right. It looks like a sibling photo… so I’m guessing that’s either Hannah or Mary between him and Kitty if it’s not Clarissa.

    I double checked and that is my great great Grandmother, Florence Mabel Peer standing on the left in this photo. Not Maggie. She and Reuben Jr are standing in the center of the Peer Family reunion photo as well. I will send you other pictures of her if you’d like verification. She lived to be 101 and I remember her when I was a little girl (she died in 1972). –Pamela

  • Hi Pamela;

    That’s great that you can confirm people in this photo. Yes, it would be great to see other photos of Florence to verify this. Can you provide a few more details about Florence? Who she married? Did she move away from the Brockville area? That sort of thing.

    regards
    John

    I have that picture from Chuck Bigford (Marguerite’s son) and the second from left is Aunt Maggie (Grandma Rowsome) beside Geroge Rowsome. I believe the picture was taken at the old house on the Island. It was a stucco house but Grant Hinton said you cannot get into the place now and it has fallen down or destroyed. Anyway, the land had lots of snakes on it. The house looks like the one I remember from years ago. From the picture of Ludy Richards both Aunt Maggie
    and Lucy Hinton wore glasses.
